Power BI

WHAT IS POWER BI REPORT :

A Power BI report is a multi-perspective view into a data set, with visualizations that represent different findings and insights from that data set. A report can have a single visualization or pages full of visualizations. Depending

on your job role, you may be someone who creates reports and/or you may be someone who consumes or uses reports.
ADVANTAGES OF REPORTS:
Reports are based on a single data set. The visualizations in a report each represent a nugget of information. And the visualizations aren't static; you can add and remove data, change visualization types, and apply filters and slicers as you dig into the data to discover insights and look for answers. Like a dashboard, but more-so, a report is highly interactive and highly customizable and the visualizations update as the underlying data changes

HOW TO CREATE A REPORT:

the report clearly indicates the pictorial representation of your  entire data in the right side  of your PBI desktop

for example see the bellow picture that represents you the creation of reports
In the bottom of desktop you can clearly see
1.CERT REPORT it is indicated as one report of the collected information
2.REPORT TWO is named  for creating second report
so drag the data in to visualization part and generate new reports

REPORT TO DASH BOARD

After creating report  you will make it as dash board and publish it into the server..There are plenty of other ways to open a report; for example, you could start on a dashboard and select a tile that was created from a report. Selecting the tile opens the report in Reading view. To follow along see the bellow example of the data in form of dash board.

The highlighted  one indicating a report inserted in dashboard

HOW TO EDIT FONT SIZES AND  BACKROUND COLORS TO MAKE YOUR DASHBOARD EFFECTIVE TO YOUR CLIENT

One is always attractive to the view part of your dashboard it depends on what kind of effective colors you have used to make him easy use to understand and to handle the end user in an understanding way .
The bellow screenshots indicate how to edit the colors, back round, text ,font size ,data labels, custom colors with codes .

With Report Themes you can apply a color theme to your entire report, such as corporate colors, seasonal coloring, or any other color theme you might want to apply. When you apply a Report Theme, all visuals in your report use the colors from your selected theme

Just in case you're not sure how to change the font size on a visual at all (I suspect you do but want to be thorough), select the visual and then:
  1. Choose the Format tab of the visual
  2. Choose which aspect you want to update (title, legend, and axis are common options for example)
  3. Choose the font size

Use Diverging color scales

Sometimes your data may have a naturally diverging scale. For example, a temperate range has a natural center at freezing point, and a profitability score has a natural mid-point (zero).
To use diverging color scales, slide the Diverging slider to On. When Diverging is turned on, an additional color selector and value box, both called Center

How to undo in Power BI(if wan to go back with the same theme you want)

Like many other Microsoft services and software, Power BI provides an easy way to undo your last command. For example, let’s say you change the color of a data point, or a series of data points, and you don’t like the color when it appears in the visualization. You don’t recall exactly which color it was before, but you know you want that color back!
To undo your last action, or the last few actions, all you have to do is:
  • Type CTRL+Z

CUSTOM COLORS:Default Color Scheme

Now we will load the new color theme.  But before we can load the color theme we have to generate the color theme first.  The color theme has some requirements.  First the color theme must be written as a JSON file and must adhere to the JSON format.  For developers this will be a very simple google search to accomplish this.  However, I know there are some out there that do not enjoy doing development work.  So, in a PowerBI.Tips first, I have developed a custom tool to make the color theme generation super simple.

Introducing the PowerBI.Tips Color Theme Generator (CTG) to help Power BI users create quick and easy JSON code files to input into Power BI for the color themes. Not everyone has a coding background, and though there will be tutorials and examples of how to set up the JSON, if you aren’t familiar with the language a small typo could have you spending precious time troubleshooting the issue.

update 3/15/17: The Advanced Color Theme Generator has been released.

Once the browser loads the Color Theme Generator follow the instructions listed at the top of the page to select your colors.  The only required fields are the Name, and at least one color.  For this tutorial I selected a number of nice pastel colors.  Click the Download Color Theme button to download the JSON file that we will use in Power BI.
Note: The Color Theme Generator was tested on Google Chrome.  Also, clicking the Download Color Theme button will download the JSON file to your browser’s default location.  You will need to know this file location to load the file into Power BI Desktop.

The bellow dashboard is the one i made little effective to make you understand the difference between the previous dashboard and the present dashboard ,Take a look

AND we are done with reports and the how to edit the colors, back round, text ,font size ,data labels, custom colors with codes .

buckle up

you will enjoy the ride in power BI, hope you love this we will be
learning more  like dashboard, workbook, DAX functions and many more ... have a nice day see you soon .
